What the price includes
A building package covers the engineered shell: primary frames, secondary framing, roof and wall panels, trim, fasteners, framed openings, and engineered drawings sealed where required. Freight is quoted by destination. It does not include the slab and footings, site work, erection labor, MEP, interior finishes, or permit fees.
At 960 sq ft, design wind speed, ground snow load, eave height, and door count are what move your final number. Request current package pricing and we will price the configuration with our manufacturing partners.
Estimate the Cost of a 24x40 Steel BuildingEngineering & site notes
- Wind, snow and seismic
- Loads come from ASCE 7 as adopted by your jurisdiction, not from a national default. This footprint is commonly engineered for up to 150 mph wind and up to 60 psf snow, but your county sets the actual values.
- Foundation
- A local engineer designs the slab and footings from the anchor bolt and reaction drawings shipped with your package. Soils, frost depth, and the loads you put on the floor determine thickness and reinforcement.
- Insulation
- Banded blanket insulation is the value option; insulated metal panels and spray foam cost more and perform better. If the space will be heated or cooled, decide before ordering — the envelope strategy affects framing and trim details.
- Expansion
- 24' wide is the smallest footprint that comfortably parks two vehicles side by side. Lengthening in 5' bays is the cheapest way to add capacity later.
- Delivery
- Ships by flatbed from the plant serving your region. Your site needs firm access for tractor-trailers, and offloading is arranged with your crew in advance.
